Guarantee

10 Year Classic

Only registered master builders are able to offer a master build classic new home or alterations and additions guarantee to their clients.  Master build services limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the registered master builders federation of New Zealand incorporated, provides the guarantee.

Master Build Services Agreement to Provide Guarantee

Master Build Services will consider each application and, in its sole discretion, may accept or decline the application, including a late application.  When the Guarantee is accepted, Master Build Services will within 14 days of receiving the application, send acceptance letters to the Owner and the Registered Master Builder and a Notice of Practical Completion Form to the Owner, for signing and return to Master Build Services when the Dwelling or Works is complete.

The Guarantee will not come into force until the application is accepted and countersigned by Master Build Services, and written notice of acceptance is posted to the Owner and the Registered Master Builder.  If you wish to confirm receipt of your application, contact Master Build Services on 0800 269 119.

Important Notice

If the Owner has not received confirmation of the Guarantee within 14 days of making the application they must contact Master Builder Services on 0800 269 119 immediately.  Until Master Build Services confirms the Guarantee an Owner has no cover.

The Guarantee Covers

A:  Defects in Materials:  (for two years) after completion of the Dwelling or Works and the issue of a Certificate/Notice of Practical Completion, and provided that a Code of Compliance Certificate has been applied for, and excluding labour-only contracts.

B:  Defects in Workmanship:  (for two years) after completion of the Dwelling or Works and the issue of a Certificate has been applied form until the tenth year anniversary of the date of acceptance.

C: Structural Defects:  after completion of the Dwelling or Works and the issue of a Certificate/ Notice of Practical Completion, and provided that a Code Compliance Certificate has been applied form until the tenth year anniversary of the date of acceptance.

D:  Rot and Fungal Decay:  where the design, materials and construction of the Dwelling or Works achieve a score of 12 or less using the “Building envelope risk matrix” in the Department of Building and Housing’s “Acceptance Solution E2/AS1” at the time of issue of the building consent for the Dwelling of Works

The above cover is subject to the various exclusions and limitations set out in the Guarantee Terms and Conditions.  The Guarantee is neither a contract of insurance or indemnity, nor is it a maintenance contract.
