Gavin Morrow- Director  (Construction)

Gavin has been working in the building industry for nearly twenty years both in the New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Gavin is part owner of the building company and earned his National Certificate of Carpentry in 1994. Gavin has been building in and around the Mt Maunganui/Tauranga region for over 13 years. He has also gained extensive experience constructing multi-story high end residential houses in some of London’s best postcodes.  A key to Gavin’s success is his ability to look at job from both a macro and a micro perspective.  This approach ensures that perfection is achieved at every corner whilst still managing the entire team. Gavin takes great pride in creating a safe yet enjoyable work space for his team.  Gavin has the ability to inspire perfection in the team and personally ensures that each job is run as if it is his only one, whether it be a multi-million dollar project or a more budget conscious 3 bedroom home.

Gavin is married to Karlie and is a keen fisherman, wakeboarder and sportsman although he may not get out as much as he would like with two toddlers in tow!


Peter Buck - Director

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce, Peter worked in the global financial markets in Sydney and London for over 10 years.   Peter's corporate experience combined with owning and operating The Thorne Group for the last several years has given him the ability to understand and appreciate the importance of process and controls.  At all times his key objective is to allocate resources effectively to ensure the focus remains on the end client.  This unique combination of skills, combined with Bob’s accountancy background has enabled The Thorne Group to operate with what we believe are the best operating systems in the business.    These extremely tight processes and controls involves Peter personally approving every cost attributed to a job, thus ensuring full transparency with the client.  In addition to all financial aspects of the build Peter will assist clients with dealing with their banks, lawyers and will personally go through the build contract to ensure complete understanding.   Peter is also an Executive for the Tauranga Registered Master Builder Association. 

In his spare time Peter enjoys spending time with his 3 children, playing golf (if time permits!) and participating in any sport on a social level.



Aaron Thorne -Director (Project Management)

Aaron has a Business degree and has been associated with the building industry for 11 years.  Aaron has personally project managed over 80 new homes in the Bay region, ranging from 2 bedroom homes to one of the most expensive and prestigious developments the region has seen.   Aaron is part owner of The Thorne Group and oversees the project management aspects of construction.  Aaron believes a ‘hands on’ approach for all aspects of the construction process is the key to a successful experience.  Aaron is passionate about quality control and is committed to getting the absolute best out of the contractors and sub-contractors that work under The Thorne Group banner.
 

Aaron is married to Sarah.  They have a newborn (Cooper) and a puppy that keeps them up at night.  Aaron enjoys fishing and surfing but like the others has very little chance of actually doing them!

                                   

 

Bob Thorne  - Director (Land Development)

Bob Thorne is a qualified accountant and has been associated with property development for over 30 years.   In 1994 Bob became a full time property developer with the successful completion of 60 sites in Thornton Park.   Shortly after this was completed Bob acquired Thornton Ridge and St Marks, which between them will consist of over 400 sites.  Bob has extensive knowledge of the geotechnical landscape in the Bay of Plenty area – providing invaluable information when purchasing a section in the area.   Bob is part owner of The Thorne Group and now spends his time overseeing The Thorne Group land procurement and developments, in addition to utilising his accountancy background by ensuring The Thorne Group accountancy systems are second to none. Bob has also become a lot busier of late with the arrival of 3 grandchildren!                                                                    


Lisa Buck – Interior Designer / Marketing Manager

Interior designer for the Thorne group, Lisa has worked for 8 years in Global Marketing within brand creation and development for some of the world’s most well recognized brands based in Sydney and London.  Lisa has now moved to work within Interior Design after studying at the prestigious Design School in London.  Lisa offers a complete design service, always with the client’s vision in mind to match individual and personal choices and flares.
After Lisa and Peter returned from the corporate life in London they had 3 children – Harry, Hugo and Chloe.  Lisa now spends time juggling children with her passion for interior design and marketing !  Trying to keep sticky hands off fabric and wallpaper samples can be challenging at times !

Wendy Brush - Urban Ridge Sales & Interior Design

Wendy has been involved with selling homes for over ten years, and throughout this period became obsessed with finding ways to improve and add value to homes.  This was a perfect combination for The Thorne Group as Wendy is able to assist clients in both purchasing a home from the groups land development operations, as well as been able to guide them throughout the entire process.  Like Lisa, Wendy is absolutely passionate about design, and both Lisa and Wendy call each other excitedly several times a day relaying discoveries of new products, fabrics, and wallpapers  - even a paint colour makes these two excited ! Wendy is married to David who is a paramedic with the ambulance service.  Wendy also has 4 children, and the recent arrival of grandchildren keep her busy on all fronts !
