Symmetry in design

A modern twist on the traditional pitched roof this home creates interest amongst the streetscape with it's profile.  Will Tatton Architecture had symmetry in mind when designing this home.   The entrance is intimate with a tiled area that creates a welcoming space before you are introduced to the open plan kitchen, dining, lounge. New Zealanders have fallen in love with outdoor living and this home transfers seemlessly from indoor to outdoor with a sheltered outdoor space that acts as an extension of the living room.   The kitchen edges this space making it an ideal home for those wanting to entertain.  The home has two bathrooms, one being an ensuite off the master bedroom. Each is styled to achieve a sense of space and comfort while affording privacy.  The colour palette is restful and this is reflected in the three generously sized bedrooms.

A hidden garden

This home features a central atrium creating a focal point as you enter the home. The effect makes the home feel light and spacious and the garden becomes part of the living space day and night. At night the result is spectacular and with the ambient lighting draws you in creating an outdoor room. The lighting makes this space a gardening feature that can be enjoyed as though a piece of art. Creating features like this can create a real 'wow' factor in your home and it's important to work the ideas through with your building team.  This homes interior was planned by our in house interior designer and she has created another impactful feature with the teal rippled glass that pulls the colours from the garden scene inside to the kitchens central island unit.

Two bedroom living maximizes outdoor space.

Creating two distinct outdoor living spaces was part of the design brief for the couple when building this home. They wanted to enable both morning and afternoon sun to be maximized.  The home features one large bathroom and they had it specifically designed with a large walk-in tiled shower. The designer kitchen separates the dining area from the living area.  Once again a reflection of the outdoor living space creating two distinct spaces.  This house is distinctive designed and built for the owners and the way they wanted to live within their home,  it even features a transformed garage, now a 'man cave'.

The New Zealand lifestyle must - outdoor living

All homes at Urban Ridge are architecturally designed to maximize outdoor living space. "When we began Urban Ridge it was one of the key considerations when we worked with clients. They wanted outdoor space within their homes". says Bob Thorne.

"Big enough for entertaining but low maintenance so you don't need to spend precious leisure time managing the needs of a controlling garden space".

A home where light flows naturally

This home was the first in our series of atriums built to create a natural light effect, and feature.  The home is separated at the entrance by floor to ceiling glass with an atrium garden.    The flow and light in this home is amazing with the bedrooms able to interconnect to the living area or by shutting the doors, completely disconnecting.  Two outdoor spaces for morning and afternoon sun once again provide very flexible living options.
