We had the good fortune to build with The Thorne Group and 2 months after moving into our new home we know we definitely made the right decision in choosing to do so.

The building phase was overseen by Aaron our project manager. He was great to deal with, continually kept us updated and his organisational skills are second to none. This made for an extremely efficient and smooth build. We loved having access to the Buildertrend website which was updated regularly with photos and info so we were never left wondering what was going on. We first saw a couple of houses built by Thorne Group which led to our decision to select them for our design and build. Our house was completed in December 2021. Given the turbulent year that was 2021 Thorne Group delivered our new home on time.

We were consulted the whole way through and nothing was too much trouble — a fantastic achievement. Scott, our Project Manager, could not have been more helpful. Even as the build got nearer to completion and we found ourselves unable to cross the border due to the COVID restrictions, Scott kept in touch by phone and video calls and we were able to view and make decisions just as though we were on site. One pleasant surprise was the use of the Buildertrend App which allowed us to view photos on a weekly basis and in some cases daily when significant milestones were being met.

Any changes that we wanted to do throughout the project were easily accommodated and met with great advice and assistance. Thorne Group are very professional and their attention to detail is amazing and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else.

From the masterful design and then through into conception we had a seamless build process which was anything but stressful. I love the fact it is a family run business where we are treated like people and not just another number. I would definitely build with Thorne Group again as they are a superb team.

Being in the residential development business ourselves we were more than aware of the many pitfalls that can arise in and around construction and we can now emphatically state that not once did we experience a bad moment during the whole duration of our build.

My advice for anyone building is to nominate their builder before getting the plans, because that has got to save a great deal of time and money to the client, and that is what I have experienced with Thorne Group.

I looked at every building company in the region and nothing was quite what I wanted. I originally thought Thorne Group a bit out of my price range, but when I looked further into it, I realised that wasn't the case. So I gave Clare a call, and the rest is history.

Last year I moved into my lovely new home built for me by 'The Thorne Group.' We are now 3/4 of the way through our first ever build. Having heard of the nightmares some people experience with their builds, we have been blown away with how Thorne Group has consistently met deadlines, organised materials and contractors. Robin and Sarah have built three homes with us in the last 10 years as their requirements and desires have changed. Below is a Q&A of their experience with us over the last decade.

<strong>What makes you keep coming back?</strong> We don't think that we could find better. We looked at many competitors' show homes and the finish and specification (included in the build price) doesn't match that of the Thorne Group.

<strong>What would you say to the phrase 'building is a stressful process'?</strong> We would say that you might want to think about choosing a different builder.

In our 53-year marriage, we have rented 9 homes, owned another 5 and 3 of those have been design/build projects (either full new build or significant extensions). Our nearly completed Thorne Group Home is our 16th and our first home in the TCC rohe.

To say we're a bit picky — this being what we hope will be our 'forever' home — would be an understatement. Nothing has been a problem however, and both Clare (Client Care) and Scott (Project Manager) have responded quickly and positively to all enquiries or requests. The one-stop-shop for architectural and interior design has been an amazing journey. Our lawyer's eyebrows raised a little at the number of PC Sums in the contract, but a fully transparent process ensured we always felt we were in control of decisions and overall budget.

The tradies on the build have become used to me turning up at all hours to take pictures and have often sought our opinion on everything from mortar look to decking layout and landscaping. A bonus has been a willingness to incorporate provision for sentimental art and bric-a-brac in the interior finishing. We cannot recommend a Thorne Group Build highly enough and in the unlikely event we ever move we would be back on the phone to Clare!

Now 12 years in our second Thorne Group house, which probably says enough! Brilliant to work with, flexible enough to make significant changes to their plan — we've got what we think is the perfect house (for us). Fully recommend!

Even though my house was one of their smaller builds, due to my disabilities I needed wider doors and passageways, the en-suite bathroom a complete wet area. The house was positioned so the main bedroom and living area receive all-day sun. Even after twelve months, a minor defect was put right within 2 days of informing Aaron.

We first became interested when our daughter had their first house built by the Thorne Group. They were very pleased with the quality of both the house and the level of professional service they received with the Thorne Group. We have now built 2 homes through the Thorne Group and we are extremely satisfied with the quality of workmanship and support from the staff, the tradies and the suppliers. After having watched the development of Urban Ridge over a number of years, I finally left the big smoke and moved into my perfectly formed small home in the lovely suburb.
