Aging In Place
More and more of our clients are thinking ahead. They’re not just building a home for now — they’re building for the years to come. That’s where aging in place comes in.
For many people, it’s not just about retirement or mobility. It’s also about the unexpected — a sudden injury, illness, or life change that shifts how a home needs to function. And when those things happen, the last thing you want is to be facing major renovations.
At Thorne Group, we have extensive experience building both fully accessible and future-ready homes — homes that are quietly prepared to adapt over time, without ever feeling clinical or compromised.
“One Team” - Collaborative Approach
We work closely with architects to bring future-proofing into the conversation early — not as a last-minute add-on, but as a considered part of the process.
That might mean discussing how access could work later, identifying where structural support or services should go, and making sure what’s drawn on paper translates clearly and efficiently on site. Our role is to offer practical construction insight that protects the vision — and adds long-term value.

What we do behind the walls
This is where the real future-proofing happens — in the construction details you don’t see. During the build, we can include subtle, cost-effective features that make future changes easier, faster, and far more affordable if and when they’re needed.
This might include:
-
Additional framing or reinforcement in key areas
-
Allowances for future accessibility aids or home modifications
-
Service runs for potential electrical or plumbing changes
-
Support and collaboration with architectural detailing
These decisions are barely noticeable in the finished home — but they can make all the difference down the line.
No compromise to the 'feel' of the home
We’ve worked on fully accessible homes that feel every bit as refined and intentional as any other high-end architectural build. The difference is in how they’re constructed: well-thought-out, beautifully finished, and quietly future-ready.
It’s about taking care of the structure, the sequencing, and the planning — so you don’t have to undo anything later.
Because we’ve delivered both accessible and future-ready homes, we understand how to support architects with the right construction strategies — from buildability input to site coordination and construction sequencing.
If you’re planning a home that supports aging in place — whether for yourself or someone you care about — we’re here to help you get the details right from the start. Thoughtfully prepared. Built to last. Ready for whatever life brings.

After Care And Support
As a family-owned business, each home we create carries our family name – something we do not take lightly. Although we are proud of our reputation for quality, we understand that concerns sometimes crop up as you settle in.
Our after-care service ensures any defects or maintenance queries that occur within the first 2-years after completion are promptly responded to and resolved, and ongoing support is provided throughout the 10-year Registered Master Build Guarantee period.

(Built 3 times with TG)
We had a very good experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better build. We had so much trust in them, we were confident they weren’t fleecing us”
Ken & Gaye
Their reputation is very good, if we mention we have a Thorne Group house, people say ‘good choice’. I believe it adds value to our home and will to the sale price if/when we sell.

I am proud to say that Thorne Group has done 3 builds for me! I had the privilege of top-class service, from start to finish nothing was ever a problem. I would not build with anyone else Thorne Group all the way
Vicky
We are delighted with the high-quality standard of finish in the house. Other builders, friends and family, regularly comment on it. We still get people knocking on our door wanting to know who built our house.
